Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Dakhila, accounts, verification, and comparing financial aid. Can’t find what you need? Contact us.

What is Dakhila?
Dakhila is a college financial aid comparison and planning tool. Upload your admit letters and Dakhila extracts tuition, scholarships, living costs, and more—then shows everything side by side so you can see your true out-of-pocket cost and projected debt across schools. It is designed for students, families, and the counselors who support them.
How much does Dakhila cost?
Students and families currently get full access for $0 for a limited period. After that, it is a flat $50 one-time fee—no subscription, no recurring charges. Counselors and schools can contact us for custom plans. See our Pricing page for the most up-to-date information.
How do I compare aid offers?
After signing in, go to your dashboard and upload your admit letters as PDFs or images. Dakhila extracts the key figures—tuition, grants, scholarships, loans, work-study, and fees—and builds a side-by-side comparison showing net price, gift aid, and projected debt for each school. You can also enter or adjust numbers manually.
What file formats can I upload?
Dakhila accepts PDFs and common image formats (JPG, PNG, and similar). Upload the admit letter exactly as you received it from the institution.
How does the automatic data extraction work?
When you upload an admit letter, Dakhila uses automated parsing to read the document and identify key financial figures such as tuition, fees, grants, scholarships, and loans. The extracted values are shown for your review before any comparison is generated. You should always check the extracted numbers against your original document, as automated parsing may occasionally miss or misread figures—particularly in non-standard layouts.
What is the Admit Letter Integrity Check?
The integrity check is an automated review that looks for expected signals in an uploaded document—such as tuition figures, aid amounts, and standard formatting—to help confirm the file is likely a financial admit letter. It is a screening tool only and does not verify the accuracy of the figures inside the document. Always confirm all amounts with the issuing institution.
Are the figures Dakhila shows guaranteed to be accurate?
No. Dakhila presents estimates and extracted figures for planning purposes only. Figures depend on the accuracy of the source documents and the extraction process, and they may not reflect the latest updates from an institution. Always verify all costs, aid amounts, and terms directly with each college and your financial aid office before making any decisions.
How do I create an account?
Click Register and enter your name, email address, and a password. We will send a 6-digit verification code to your email—enter it to verify and complete signup. Your account is then active and you can start uploading admit letters and using your dashboard.
I did not receive the verification code. What should I do?
Check your spam or promotions folder first. Codes expire after 10 minutes—if yours has expired, return to the signup form and request a new one. If you still have trouble, contact us at support@dakhila.ai.
Where is my data stored and is it secure?
Your account and offer data are stored on secure servers. Some preferences may also be cached locally in your browser. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely risk-free, so we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your login details private. We do not sell your personal information. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Are my uploaded documents kept private?
Uploaded documents are used solely to provide the extraction and comparison service to you. We do not sell, share, or use your documents for advertising. For full details on how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
Does Dakhila work for international students?
Yes. Dakhila supports comparisons for universities worldwide. Cost figures are displayed in USD by default; amounts shown reflect what appears in the uploaded document. If your admit letters are in another currency, review the extracted figures carefully and verify the conversion independently.
Can counselors use Dakhila with their students?
Yes. Students create their own accounts and upload their admit letters; counselors can then review the comparison view together with them. The side-by-side layout is designed for advisor–student–family conversations. For bulk or school-wide use, see our For Counselors page or email counselors@dakhila.ai.
Is Dakhila a substitute for my financial aid office or a professional advisor?
No. Dakhila is a planning and comparison tool only—it does not provide financial, legal, or admissions advice. Aid amounts and policies can change. Always confirm figures, deadlines, and conditions directly with each institution and your financial aid office before making any final decisions.
